Freezing Temps=Horrible Results
We are noticing a trend of the freezing temperatures bringing horrible results for homeowners on the ranch. Over the weekend we responded to a couple of different incidents that resulted in serious property damage. Furnaces either failed or power outages did not allow them to start working and the water lines in the homes froze and broke. Please shut your meter off if you are not going to be there for longer periods of time. If you do not have a way to remotely see the temperature in your cabin furnaces can go down at any time. We do have the capability with the cellular meters to find these faster, but we still need 12-24 hours of continues flow before it gets updated. One property had 25k gallons run through a frozen broken pipe completely flooding the upstairs before we could find it and shut it off. Safest way to prevent this is to shut it off at the meter. If the meter is dug up, please remember to cover it back up with snow for insulation, so the meter does not freeze. We hate to see property damage for our customers so hopefully these reminders and posts help.
